New Hendrix Album Due this Year

Nearly fifty years after his death, Experience Hendrix LLC is releasing more of Jimi Hendrix’s recordings. The latest album, Both Sides of the Sky, is part of a trilogy of albums which also includes Valleys of Neptune and People, Hell and angels.

Hendrix became a professional musician in 1962, however his career really didnt take off until he formed the Jimi Hendrix Experience in 1966. Hendrix died in 1970, so any recordings you hear of him are typically from a four year period of time. Few artists can create such an impact on the music world in so little time.

Some critics claim that the Experience Hendrix organization is only doing these albums to make money off of a deadman, however i feel like the new releases help his music continue to spread to younger generations. I have been a fan of Hendrix since i was eleven years old and it brings me great joy to be able to have new music from the legendary guitarist.

The 2018 album, Both Sides of the Sky, will include 13 previously unreleased recordings. The album features Hendrix former bandmates; Billy Cox, Buddy Miles, Noel Redding and Mitch Mitchell. The album also contains contributions from Johnny Winter, Stephen Stills and Lonnie Youngblood.

Whether you are a longtime fan of Hendrix, or have only heard “Purple Haze” on the radio, Both Sides of the Sky will definitely be worth a listen. The album will be available March 9th.
