Kid Cudi recently released his 6th studio album on December 16, Passion, Pain and Demon Slayin’. It’s cool, it’s trippy and it’s amazing.
At a whopping 19 tracks the album runs a little long and most of the tracks are at least four minutes, but PP&DS is full of the raw emotion that earned Cudi fame with albums like Man on the Moon I and II.
I had personally lost interest in Kid Cudi’s career when he attempted his bland and lackadaisical “rock” albums, but something about this album grabbed my attention. PP&DS is definitely his best work in years.
PP&DS features stars like Pharrell and Andre 3000, as well as Willow Smith on the haunting but uplifting track “Rose Golden” where she and Cudi sing in unison.
Each song is unique and has the ability to stand out, but the album still flows very well.
If you’re a fan of Cudi’s older work, this album will not disappoint. I can not count how many times I have played through this whole album.
